Leadership Candidates

Rumoured to stand when Ming steps down:
Nick Clegg MP - Expected to stand, not formally declared. Grapevine says that he is definitely putting his name on the ballot paper.
Ed Davey MP - Previously tipped as potential leadership candidate, not formally declared.

Chris Huhne MP - Expected to stand, as did in last leadership contest. Like Nick, the rumour mill has been spinning and Chris definitely wants his name on the ballot paper. It is unlikely there’ll only be one single “Orange book” candidate. Not formally declared.

Susan Kramer MP - Faintly rumoured to stand, not formally declared. Not as certain to be on the ballot paper as the other candidates.

Steve Webb MP - Expected to stand. Is very likely to be on the ballot paper.

Not standing when Ming stands down:

Simon Hughes MP - Won’t attempt a third-time-lucky shot from fairly reliable rumours.

Lembit Opik MP - Has declared no interest in being the next leader of the party, but has ambitions to be President of the party.
